Game Theory emerged as a powerful challenger to the conventional method of examining economics. The main purpose of game theory is to consider situations where instead of agents making decisions as reactions to exogenous prices (“dead variables”), their decisions are strategic reactions to other agents actions (“live variables”).
Is the game theory movie a good adaptation?
Nash won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics in 1994 for his contributions to game theory. It’s a fine film. Still, as most adaptations do, the film differs from the book in several important ways. In the book, for example, Nash’s dissertation advisor tells him that his dissertation is trivial, which is a high insult in mathematics.
