Im having the slow charging problem also. I plug my Samsung in to that port and it charges at the same time I can use it without problem. If the battery drained right down it was almost impossible to bring the tab back to life. What worked for me - holding down the power and volume buttons for about a minute. Like the wire insulator I've learned by experience. And i know its not the charger because i just bought a new one. The tablet drained so low that it would not power on at all.
Its rated at 5v 2. There are 2 problems first you do need the charger that came with your Tab 2 or any that put out 5v 2A. My phone was also charging unusually slow. Tablets from Samsung are some of the best tablets on the market and that is mostly because Samsung has quite a lot of them. Or maybe less, I used both cable so I'm ot sure but it didn't happened immediately. This flashes for about 2-3 seconds and the dots below also flash and then the battery disappears for about 10 seconds , before this sequence again occurs.
