How to connect the rover module to the computer?
The rover module has a USB interface connector identical to the base module, you can use the base module USB cable to connect rover to computer. In addition, during the firmware upgrading process, the rover module needs to be powered by connecting to autopilot, as shown in the following figure:
How to improve RTK positioning performance of Rover?
-Check whether Rover receives base correction data (Timeout). After the base station enters the TIME Mode, it is necessary to transmit the RTCM data to the rover, for rover to enter RTK modes. Therefore, a real-time and efficient communication between rover and base station is necessary for good RTK positioning performance.
How do I change the output frequency of the rover module?
-Change Rover module output rate. By default, the output frequency of the position information by the rover module is 1HZ. If you need to speed up the position output frequency, you can enter the Messages view -> UBX -> CGF -> RATE directory, change the Measurement Period.
What is the position accuracy of the rover module relative to base?
Even if the accuracy of the base station is 1.5 to 2 m, the position accuracy of the rover module relative to the base station can still reach centimeter level. After the survey is complete, Mission Planner will display the following page:
How do I upgrade a rover module?
When upgrading a Rover module, use a hexagonal screwdriver to open the case. The rover module has a USB interface connector identical to the base module, you can use the base module USB cable to connect rover to computer.
How does the rover module work?
The rover module is combined with an ESP32 board to calculate the position of the Rover in comparison to the saved GPS Fence. The calculations done by the ESP32 and Arduino program send a signal if the Rover is inside (1) or outside (0) the fence. A 3D printed case to house the Arduino boards and RTK System is available to download here:
How do I configure UART2 for the Rover?
Open u-center and connect to the rover module. Multiple instances of u-center can be started if you have multiple modules connected to one computer. Navigate to the CFG / PRT message and configure UART2.
How do I set up a rover using U-Center?
The rover simply needs to be fed RTCM corrections and it will enter RTK Float, then RTK Fix. Open u-center and connect to the rover module. Multiple instances of u-center can be started if you have multiple modules connected to one computer. Navigate to the CFG / PRT message and configure UART2.
Does the base stations absolute geographic accuracy affect the Rovers accuracy?
It should be noted that the absolute geographic accuracy of the base station here will affect the absolute geographic accuracy of the rover module without affecting the relative accuracy between the base station and rover.
What is the first step in a base/Rover setup?
The first step in a base/rover setup is setting up a base station. There are a few ways to set up a base station: a temporary base station is faster but less precise. A static base station takes more time to set up and configure but provides the greatest precision.
Is the rover module ready for the field?
This rover module is now ready for the field. It is still recommended to have u-center handy to view the status of the rover as it receives RTCM corrections. As the rover receives RTCM it will quickly move from a 3D fix, to RTK Float, to RTK Fix.
How do I upgrade a rover module?
When upgrading a Rover module, use a hexagonal screwdriver to open the case. The rover module has a USB interface connector identical to the base module, you can use the base module USB cable to connect rover to computer.
