What size circuit breaker do I need for my Minn Kota motor?
Refer to the Minn Kota “Conductor Gauge and Circuit Breaker Sizing Table”. For motors requiring a 60-amp breaker, the Minn Kota MKR-19 60-amp circuit breaker is recommended. Batteries should be stored and maintained at full charge.
How do you wire a wire to a trolling motor?
Wire in series only as directed in wiring diagram, to provide 24 volts. Connect a connector cable to the positive (+) terminal of battery 1 and to the negative (-) terminal of battery 2. The jumper wire used should be one size larger than the Trolling Motor lead wire. Connect positive (+) red lead (from motor) to positive (+) terminal on battery 2.
What size circuit breaker do I need for a trolling motor?
It is highly recommended that a circuit breaker or fuse be used when installing a trolling motor. Refer to the Minn Kota “Conductor Gauge and Circuit Breaker Sizing Table”. For motors requiring a 60-amp breaker, the Minn Kota MKR-19 60-amp circuit breaker is recommended.
What kind of battery does a Minn Kota trolling motor use?
A Minn Kota trolling motor will operate with any lead acid, deep cycle marine 12-volt battery/batteries. For best results, use a deep cycle, marine battery with at least a 110-ampere hour rating. Never connect the (+) and the (-) terminals of the same battery together.

What are the different types of circuit breakers for trolling motors?
There are two main types of circuit breakers for trolling motors, the 50 Amp and the 60 Amp. Each of these is further subdivided into 12VDC, 24VDC, and 36VDC.
How many amps does a trolling motor use?
The general recommendation that the maximum amp draw of the motor should be at least 10% less than the breaker To be exact, a 50-amp circuit breaker for a trolling motor and a 60-amp circuit breaker for a trolling motor should always handle more than 10% of the current requirement of the motor. This same rule applies to the length of the wire.
What size breaker do I need for my circuit breaker?
Breaker comes in some standard sizes. Sometimes the calculated breaker size is not available in market. So you can use the nearby rating ampere breaker. For example: breaker ampere from calculation is 45 amps and in market a 50 amps breaker is available. So we can use 50 amps breaker
Do you need a fuse for a trolling motor?
For starters, you do not need to keep replacing a circuit breaker every time your trolling motor experiences an electrical fault. It can also be reset manually. A fuse, on the other hand, can provide protection only once. Replacing a fuse can also be very inconvenient.
